Dripping Faucets

Dripping faucets are a common problem. Sadly, most people will ignore a dripping faucet out of fear or ignorance. What most do not know is that it can be fixed quite simply. In fact, the repair will usually cost you less than a dollar and less than an hour of your time. Making the repair should be on the top of your priorities not only because it causes an annoying sound that echoes through out the night, but also because a faucet that leaks one drip per second wastes almost 20 gallons of water a month. Over time that adds up and you end up paying for it.

It’s important to note that every bathroom sink has two sets of controls; the faucet and the valves below it. If you notice that your faucet is dripping then there is an easy way to temporarily solve the problem until you have time to make the repair. All you have to do is shut off the valves under the sink and tie a rag around the end of the faucet. Let the rag hang with its end in the sink and make sure the rag completely covers the drain. This will catch the running water and deafen the sound until a repair can be made.

As silly as that sounds, it is very common for homeowners to find a plumber that way. The best advice to offer when it comes to hiring a plumber is to do your research and find a qualified plumber who can suit your needs the best.
